Orange Tahiti tablet available now for UK customers.
Orange has become the latest company to stake a claim in the tablet market. The mobile firm has launched its first own-branded tablet in the UK, the Orange Tahiti.
The tablet is built by Chinese manufacturer Huawei, and based heavily on the company’s own MediaPad device. That means it runs off a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 1.2GHz processor and the Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system.
Users navigate the Tahiti through its 7in multi-touch screen. The tablet also comes equipped with a 5 megapixel camera, micro HDMI out, and 8GB of internal storage. If you need a little more space for your content, storage can be expanded by up to 32GB with microSD cards.
The tablet is currently available from Orange for £69.99, if you sign up to a 24-month data plan at £25 a month. The data plan gives users up to download 1GB of data over mobile networks a month. Night owls get a little extra - Orange allows an additional 1GB between the hours of midnight and 4am.
Alternatively, the Tahiti is free if taken as a part of Orange’s Connected 24-month plan, alongside the San Francisco II mobile phone. That data plan costs £41 a month and comes with 2GB data allowance, 200 anytime call minutes and unlimited texts.
Paul Jevons, director of products and devices for Everything Everywhere, said: “We’re pleased to be expanding our portfolio of own-brand devices into tablets for the first time. The Tahiti is a stylish, lightweight device with a great quality screen, which we believe really does offer great value innovation and will help customers to get the most out of their multimedia content whilst on the go.”
