Vodafone has launched a new mobile phone, designed specifically for older people.

The Vodafone 155 has a number of features designed to make communication as easy as possible for people with limited vision, dexterity or hearing problems. It has a large display, big buttons, and loud ringtones to help people with hearing problems.

Other features include speed dialling, hands-free calls and easy access to text messages.

The phone is also designed to act as an emergency device for senior citizens in case of accidents, such as a fall. On the back of the phone is a large button with a heart on it. Holding this button down for a few seconds will make the phone beep loudly to alert nearby people.

The phone will also automatically send a text message to four predetermined contacts to alert them to the user’s predicament. It will also attempt to activate hands-free calls to those contacts.

The 155 has a lengthy battery life - it should give users 10 hours talk time, and last up to 29 days on standby. It comes packaged with a desktop charger, which also acts as a loudspeaker.

It has an attractive price point too - just £25 - and is available now on Vodafone’s pay-as-you-go plans.
