Windows Phone device available free on 24-month mobile plan

Chinese mobile manufacturer ZTE Corporation has announced that home telecoms giant Virgin Media will be a launch partner for its brand new Windows Phone smartphone, the ZTE Tania, when it launches in the UK later this month.

From around the middle of May, the ZTE Tania will be available from Virgin Media online and retail stores across Britain on both pay-as-you-go and pay monthly price plans.

Designed for both personal and professional use, the ZTE Tania comes fully equipped with Microsoft's latest release of the Windows Phone mobile operating system.

Wu Sa, director of mobile device operations at ZTE UK, said: "Partnering with Virgin Media will enable our customers to purchase a quality device from a mobile provider that offers competitive tariffs on mobile phone use and data plans.

Virgin Media's director of mobile, Jamie Heywood, added: "We're delighted to be the first network operator to make the ZTE Tania available in the UK. This stylish new handset is a fantastic addition to our ever-growing pay monthly and pre-pay handset range."

The smartphone will be available on pay-as-you-go for £199.99, while on a 24-month contract the handset is free - with between £22.99 and £35.99 to pay each month for up to 500 minutes, 2,500 texts and 500GB of mobile internet data.

However, if you're already a Virgin Media customer, there is a £5 monthly discount available, and the number of inclusive texts and data allowance are doubled. They also get 3,000 free minutes to other Virgin mobile customers.
