Super cheap Huawei Ascend to launch exclusively on O2.

Mobile operator O2 has announced a major new partnership with Chinese mobile maker Huawei, bringing affordable mobiles to the UK market in a range of exclusive deals.

From 1 June, the Huawei Ascend Y 100, the latest in Huawei's expanding family of smartphones, will be available on O2 pay-as-you-go for the bargain price of £79.99 - or free on a £10 monthly contract.

Huawei says the Ascend Y 100 is one of the most user-friendly smartphones around, and will be followed by more O2-branded Huawei Ascend smartphones later in 2012.

In addition, the Huawei G 7105 - a lower-spec phone without the bells and whistles of a web-enabled device - is launching this weekend exclusively on O2, from £39.99 pay-as-you-go.

David Johnson, general manager of devices at O2 UK, said: "We're really pleased to be working with Huawei to bring Android to a whole new audience. The Ascend Y 100 packs in everything Android has to offer, as well as a simple interface and slim design, at a lower-than-ever price."

The affordable smartphone runs the Android "Gingerbread" 2.3 operating system, with useful apps such as Navigation and Voice Search. It's an entry-level device featuring a two-megapixel camera and a bright 2.8in touchscreen.

O2 customers can personalise their Huawei Ascend Y 100 - available in black from 1 June - with a free customisable back cover worth £19.99. The Huawei G 7105 is on offer in white or pink from 11 May.
