Manage music, images and video by shaking LG’s GT540 mobile phone from side-to-side.

LG has taken Jerry Lee Lewis’ 1957 song “Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin On” to heart, designing a smartphone that’s controlled by the user shaking it from left-to-right.

A motion sensor inside LG’s new GT540 smartphone allows the user to “shake the phone to control music, images and video,” LG said. For example, you could shake the phone to skip forward one music track.

The phone - based on Google’s Android operating system – also “offers multimedia capabilities and advantaged integration of social networks,” LG added.

In addition to a 3in touchscreen display and support for both Wi-Fi and 3G wireless networks, the also GT540 features:

  • A slot for Micro SD memory cards
  • GPS connectivity
  • A 3Mp rear-mounted camera
  • A 3.5mm headphone jack.
