Google Android smartphone users can now watch catch-up BBC TV.

BBC TV shows can now be enjoyed on Android smartphones, following an upgrade to the broadcaster’s iPlayer TV on-demand service.

When accessed from a smartphone running Google's Android operating system (OS), the BBC iPlayer website now automatically rescales itself and TV shows to fit small mobile phone screens.

The website also now boasts a “simpler, easier to use interface” for mobile phone-based users, the BBC added, and a favourites tab for quick access to your preferred BBC TV shows.

Android smartphones have, technically, had access to iPlayer for some time already. However, until now the TV service was never been optimised to support smartphones running the Google OS.

BBC iPlayer mobile still isn’t available to iPhone users.
