Water resistant, scratch resistant and dust proof device makes its debut.
Motorola Mobility’s new “life proof” smartphone, the DEFY+, is to become available in the UK from September.
The DEFY+ is water resistant, scratch resistant and is IP6 compliant, which means it meets the highest international standard for protection from dust.
Victoria McManus, UK marketing director at Motorola Mobility, said the DEFY+ “delivers the endurance and design strength to keep up with even the most demanding lifestyles”.
The handset has a 1Ghz processor and is powered by the latest version of Google’s Android mobile operating system, known as Gingerbread.
It also incorporates MOTOBLUR, Motorola Mobility’s social networking interface, which allows users to stay connected via the likes of Facebook and Twitter direct from their home screen.
McManus said that the “social and entertainment capabilities” of the DEFY+, which include Motorola Media Link, allowing users to stream music from their desktop computer, “put friends and fun in easy reach”.
The DEFY+ comes with the CardioTrainer application pre-loaded, which turns the handset into “the perfect running mate” by enabling the user to track the progress of their exercise regime.
The 3.7in high-resolution touchscreen of the DEFY+ is protected by scratch resistant Corning Gorilla Glass. Combined with it being water resistant and dust proof, this means that the device can survive rain showers and being taken to the beach.
The Defy+ also features a 5Mp camera, Google Talk app, Zinio e-magazine service and Adobe Flash, allowing users to watch movies and videos online.
“We designed the Motorola DEFY+ with all the smartphone features you need for a demanding lifestyle,” McManus added.
