The handset with ‘the longest talk time of any smartphone’ to hit Blighty next month after being unveiled three weeks ago.

The Motorola RAZR MAXX - which has “the longest talk time of any smartphone” according to its manufacturer - will be available in the UK from mid-May.

The handset was unveiled at the start of the month by US-based Motorola Mobility, and aims to impress in terms of both battery life and how it fits in your pocket.

Long battery life and slimness are two of our priorities when choosing a smartphone, according to two reports published by market research firm Strategy Analytics last month.

The Motorola RAZR MAXX delivers up to 17.6 hours of talk time, compared to up to eight hours on the Apple iPhone 4S and eight hours 40 minutes on the Samsung Galaxy S II.

Victoria McManus, UK marketing director at Motorola Mobility, said that the RAZR MAXX delivers “an incredible battery life that is perfect for people who want to push their smartphone to the limits and banish the low battery beep to history”.

Motorola Mobility also claims the RAZR MAXX is “impossibly thin and lightweight”. While it is thinner than the iPhone 4S, it is a shade tubbier than the Samsung Galaxy S II and weighs more than both.

The handset is powered by a dual-core 1.2Ghz processor and runs on Android Gingerbread, the third of the four existing versions of Google’s mobile operating system.

It features a 4.3in Super AMOLED advanced display - which is brighter, uses less power and suffers less from sunlight reflection than older displays - 1GB of storage and the Motorola MotoCast app - allowing you to stream music, pictures and documents from your home or work computer wherever you are.

It’s a tough cookie too - it’s reinforced by Kevlar, the fibre used to make bulletproof vests, while the screen is protected by damage-resistant Gorilla Glass.
