Angry Birds take flight on the F1 track

Angry Birds series takes to space, the race track, and now the theme park.

Not satisfied with teaming up with NASA to launch the latest in its Angry Birds games series, Finnish entertainment giant Rovio continues to spread its wings - first stop, the race track.

Last weekend, ahead of Thursday’s launch of Angry Birds Space, the latest in the addictive Angry Birds game series, Finnish Formula 1 driver Heikki Kovalainen wore a helmet emblazoned with the eye catching Angry Birds design.

Kovalainen plans to wear the helmet for the remainder of the 2012 racing season.

“This is a great partnership on many levels,” said Heikki Kovalainen. “As a Finn, I’m happy to be backing a Finnish company on a global platform. Most importantly, I’m a big Angry Birds fan!”

Angry Birds’ flight around the track comes hot on the heels of reports that the game phenomenon is taking over a Finnish theme park this summer. Crowds flocking to Angry Birds Land will be able to enjoy rides and games themed around our irate feathered friends.

The unique marketing approach doesn’t stop there. Angry Birds even had a sojourn into fashion when the wife of a Rovio executive wore an Angry Birds gown to attend a black tie event at the Finnish Presidential Palace.

Next stop, the Angry Birds restaurant?
