Another ultra-thin Android coming soon to UK.

Motorola has announced that its latest Android smartphone will soon be released in the UK. The new Motorola MOTOLUXE is expected to hit shop shelves before the end of February.

Described by the manufacturer as an "ultra-stylish" handset at a price that "looks good too", the MOTOLUXE boasts a large 4in touchscreen and measures less than 10mm thick. In fact, it's not much weightier than the "impossibly thin" Motorola Droid RAZR, released in 2011.

The MOTOLUXE is powered by the Android 2.3 operating system - also known as Gingerbread - and delivers sufficient performance to make sending emails, browsing the web and watching movies a breeze. It also packs an 8-megapixel camera with autofocus and flash.

"By combining sleek style with Android brains, MOTOLUXE is ideal for people who want the latest technology in a sophisticated package," said Marcus Frost, senior marketing director for Motorola Mobility in Europe.

He added: "Not only does this smartphone have a big screen and the latest, greatest entertainment tools, it’s affordable and won’t take a bite out of your budget." The Motorola MOTOLUXE will be available in late February, at a price of around £240.

Last month, Motorola announced it would soon be launching the latest in its range of ruggedised phones. The DEFY Mini is water-resistant, protected from dust and has a 3.2in touchscreen that's designed to take a few knocks.

Created with active types in mind, it features outdoor-specific applications made quickly accessible through a special "instrument dashboard". The DEFY Mini also uses Android 2.3 Gingerbread and will be released in the UK this spring.
