MediaPad one of the world’s first Android 4.0 tablets.
Huawei has announced the launch of two exciting new mobile products.
A new version of the Huawei MediaPad is to be among the world’s first tablets to come pre-loaded with the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.
Released in June last year, the original MediaPad was the first 7in tablet to feature Android 3.2. Its next incarnation will once again give users the latest Android experience. Ice Cream Sandwich is only available currently on a handful of devices.
The Chinese company has also unveiled its new MediaPad colour series. These eye-catching tablets run on Android 3.2 and come in three new colours - shadow black, classic brown and passion pink.
Speaking at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the chairman of Huawei Device, Richard Yu, said: “In a tablet market defined by staid black and white tablets, the new colourful MediaPad offers a personalised look without the need for an external case.
“With a hardware package that includes a high-quality screen, a powerful dual-core processor, and long battery life, this colourful MediaPad embodies a rare combination of style and performance.”
Both new MediaPad versions have a 7in touch display with screen resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and 1080p HD video playback. They come with a Qualcomm 1.2GHz dual processor and have a battery capacity of at least six hours.
Huawei’s new MediaPad colour series - and the MediaPad with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich - will be available in the first quarter of 2012. Owners of the current MediaPad will also get an Android 4.0 software upgrade.
